Days of Wonder with Yveta Yoko Kroupová
Yveta, or Yoko as she is known to some of her closest friends, is an enigma, bouncing from sensitivity to pure raw energy. Her illustrations are a hidden reminder of the fragility of our soul. Her work always expresses an inner consolation of opposing cycles that battle for the achievement of harmony. We spend the day at her apartment chatting about her inspirations, her love of slow mornings. “I love to daydream a lot. It is my favourite part of the day to take my dog for a walk and totally Zen out into my thoughts”. Daydreaming or tapping into her imagination is an integral part of her daily life, the ability to escape even for a moment and find yourself transported to another world. She talks further, “.. a secret in my work is that I believe in strong focus. Once I get there, I feel like I have a superpower, but to get there at times is hard”.
Through the moments we pass together, it is clear that Port of Stars has become her key for that escape. “The dress transports me into a moment, where I am vulnerable but strong. I feel simply beautiful the way I am, and the dress is my bridge, between layers of tiny details I treasure in my creative mind.”
It is so befitting that Yoko pairs the Studio’s iconic Marianne Tunic with the extension skirt. The silken fabrics are soft and lustrous, enveloping with a sense of sensuality. Just like her illustrations, Yoko reveals layers of complexity, at the core the undeniable truth of Love at first sight.
