Collection 1/2019 “NOTO”
Port of Stars' first collection was inspired by the City of Noto in Sicily. After a beautiful family vacation, Founder Yasmin fell in love with the colours and atmosphere of the town. The architectural masterpieces and subtle vanishing patinas became the backdrop of the idea for the collection." I just remember the beauty, cascading stairs, pink tones, reveals of narrow walkways shadowed by lemon trees, from moment to moment it felt so dreamy."
Noto is ancient and holds wisdom, walking through the arches of the city to discovering stunning courtyards that hold intrigue. ”Every corner felt like a new discovery, and it became a game to unravel the small details of the city.”
Lucid soft daylight and the scent of lemon embarking on dreamlike adventures through the ancient city filled with stories. Along the way picking fresh almonds and sipping wine as life’s small pleasures cast a dizzy spell.
The Collection is created with the idea that within each piece, there are mysteries, small details, balancing soft fabrics with stiffer trims or belts. Hand-stitched panels or accents make every piece individual and give value to the hand craftwork of the designer and the team. For the Studio's first collection, the designs are kept minimal, with a delicate touch, comprising of Kimonos, Dresses, and Kaftans.
“The design process for our first collection was very pure and innocent. We wanted to create a series that had an impact that brought the sense of unexpected.”
“We started with fabric that we sourced from old collections that Radka, our Designer, has acquired over the years, roll cuts that had not been used from previous collections, or lace and silk from Spain that our team had found through local textile boutiques.”
This first Collection became an essential step in building the foundations of the next seasons to come, emphasising a unique approach to fashion, zero waste, the importance of quality, unique sizing, limited pieces, craft interwoven with fashion.
