Collection 4/2020 "Recollections"
Inspired by one moment in history, "Recollections" draws upon the meeting between Joan of Arc and the King through the tender words of Mark Twain. When pushed to be dressed in Royals' rich manners, Joan chose to wear something simple and sincere. Her honesty was not only a revelation but a decision that would confirm her place as a true icon for women forever.
"Recollections" is a re-imagining of pieces that would have been considered for such an important meeting. The clothes reminiscent of the soft armor completing the hard exterior, which offered protection for the fearless young visionary.
"… for that was music, that dress – that is what it was – music that one saw with the eyes and felt in the heart."
– Personal recollections of Joan of Arc by Mark Twain.
Following from our previous collections, we continued to source unique cuts and volumes, punctuated by incorporating new layerings, with the addition of padded vests and reversible jackets. Introducing new dresses, generous fabrics, and textures, this beautiful collection will pay homage to the resilience and integrity of women and their selfless pursuit of all that is virtuous and good.
We incorporated more corduroy and velvet, heavier fabrics to bring weight and structure to the pieces for this collection. With combinations of new Korean ceremonial belted jackets and reversible kimonos, there was more growth in our ability to play with patterns and fabric.
We wanted to continue from our inspiration to work with strong women who have supported us on this journey and create a vision that embodies our philosophy. Working with Radka Leitmeritz, a renowned Czech photographer, we created a campaign that evoked old-world painting. Alongside mother and daughter, who beautifully modeled the collection for this stunning shoot. The campaign captures the tenderness and importance of the clothes' sincerity at the same time pulling us into a world that is a trigger for our imagination.
